Nikki Paz Dee
I'm Nikki, the designer behind MELI LUNA. It is something that has been growing in my heart for a long time, but I first started putting a name on it in January 2012, when I was designing in my free time while working for a corporate fashion company in NYC.
Growing up as a misfit in a working-class family meant that I, like many others, had to fight for my right to make art. I accepted a scholarship to Parsons School of Design, and also studied at the University of the Arts London. I am dedicated to creating socially-aware and ethical art and fashion - meaning that I use my art to draw attention to social issues, and try my best to use sustainable and fair-trade processes and materials. In the past, I have worked for super cool groups and people, like costume designer Christian Joy, the lingerie brand La Senza, Madonna's fashion brand Material Girls, fashion designer Daryl Kerrigan, and CBGB Music Festival. My work has been seen at Sisters on the Runway NYC, Kawaiiland NYC, and Alternative Fashion Week Columbus.
I love rock music, spaghetti, and my cat, Bombay. When I’m not working on the collection or tinkering around with the website, I can usually be found studying my Tarot cards, reading comic books, or talking to my plants.
